Round and round we go. This is a collection about fear. As an enneagram six, I spend a lot of time there. And I need help getting out of it. The images of carousels (or merry-go-rounds if you prefer) and fair swings invite us to consider what it means to spin. We all know spinning is a good time until we take our eyes off a stable object.
Do you have a stable object? Is it worthy of the job? The fears I honed in on here were: opportunities passing me and especially my kids by, spinning through my life without experiencing it, and concern that the ride will go too fast.
Psalm 63:1,4 tells us, “O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water…. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.”
There is only one worthy stable object. There is only one who provides hope even if my fears come true.
