Unchanging Eye, a mixed media painting on canvas

From the Open Eyes Collection

Canvas Size: 16x20

Canvas Profile: 1 1/2”

Acrylic, Gouache, Matte Varnish

God’s Eyes are always open. The Open Eyes Collection calls God’s Omniscience, His Infinite Knowledge, to our hearts.

God knows all things because He is their origin. His knowledge is unbounded.

Our insatiable desire for Information is a sign of us coveting the Divine Omniscience. We want all the facts, but we aren’t designed to have them. If we were to have future knowledge, we would use it to build our self-reliance and our own self-interests as Jen Wilkin teaches in her book None Like Him.

We can trust God to manage our future without our help. We can cast our cares upon him, not the Internet.

Psalm 131 represents a heart at rest. “O Lord, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me. But I have calmed and quieted my soul….”

My hope is that these paintings serve as a metaphor to call us to rest in our Omniscient God.
